What diamond grinding does

How acid etching is different
Acid etching uses a chemical solution to roughen the surface of concrete. It is sometimes used on home projects. It does not remove an existing coating or sealer the way grinding does, and it does not expose weak or damaged areas for repair. Mechanical preparation gives a professional installer a more controlled, inspectable surface.
Why preparation decides the result
Coating over smooth or poorly prepared concrete can lead to premature adhesion problems, and a premium coating over poor preparation can still fail. That is why preparation is treated as part of the coating system and not an optional extra.
What grinding does not fix
Grinding does not solve every concrete problem. Active moisture, oil contamination and structural movement are assessed at your estimate, because a coating applied over them can fail.
